Human Dignity Is Now Alive In Kansas City Metro Areas

Dear Dignity Helpers,
The strength of what we are doing at Giving the Basics is now being felt all over the Kansas City Metro area.  As we continue to work hard to help bring awareness to the need for human dignity and to deliver cases of products to pantries all over the Kansas City area, we know our efforts are helping individuals and families get stronger too.  All of this hard work is due to your generous assistance.

You are literally helping put product into the hands of people so that they can believe there is hope for a better tomorrow.  You are helping right here in your own back yard, in your own country and possibly your very own neighbor.  You can only imagine how it must feel to look in the mirror, knowing you look your very best for a job interview, after going without soap and shampoo for days or weeks. You can only imagine smiling back at yourself because you see a ray of hope.

Your help may be the very thing that helps people to get the job they need to get back on their feet.  After all, we now know that people cannot buy human dignity products with any government assistance program, and these products are rarely on the food pantry or homeless shelter shelves when people need them.  Our work is so important, so please continue to spread awareness.

 God bless you all!

We Are On a Roll In 2013

We are proud to announce that Project Change KC has chosen Giving the Basics for their all group challenge for 2013.  Companies and individuals in the Kansas City area are going to compete to gather toilet paper and funds for toilet paper so that we can supply the local pantries and homeless shelters with the toilet paper they need throughout the year.

Each group will also have a creative challenge and will be judged on their creative ability to build something out of the toilet paper they gather.  We expect a lot of fun and are thankful to for their help in bringing awareness to the need.  You can find and join the challenge at

We strongly encourage all of you to get involved because, after all, you are helping build Giving the Basics ..... one donation, one voice for awareness and one heart at a time.  Thank you all for believing that we can help people live with dignity again.

DECEMBER Product Drives ...... A Big thank you to the following groups who held human dignity product drives.

  • Rachael Heisey holiday party
  • Johnson Controls
  • Gleason holiday party
  • The Women's Bible Study
  • The Christian School drive
  • P1 Company

To keep the vibration of your work shaking, we are excited to let you know about some of our area schools and businesses who are getting ...... BIG NEWS!!
Notre Dame de Sion and Miege High schools are ready to rumble for human dignity.  They are all holding product drives for basic human dignity items.  We are so excited to see what they do as they work together to meet the need.  These kids are on fire to help meet the need.  These high school students were shocked and confused as to how people in the United States did not have human dignity products available to them.  They all are getting pumped up to help meet the need.  Let's cheer them all on!
Mariner Wealth Advisors are holding a product drive for their company holiday party in February.  We are so excited to see what this event will bring for Kansas City Metro area pantries.
Together, You have helped send over 70,000 human dignity items to those in need.

We want to thank our corporate donors, all of whom are mentioned on our website for their generous support and confidence in what we are doing to help strengthen Kansas City Metro with THE BASICS.

Our Story

Giving the Basics received its charitable status as a tax exempt 501C3 public charity on October 18, 2011.  We launched our initiative on November 15th, 2011 with a delivery to City Union Mission in Kansas City Mo.  In a very short amount of time, we have been blessed to send thousands of human dignity products to those in need.  The important work we are doing is beginning to take hold.   We have received financial and product donations from generous companies and individuals throughout the Kansas City area. The testimonials we have received are very telling of the impact we are making.  With your help to spread the word, we can continue providing products for dignity to those who would otherwise go without.  Thank you for all you have done to help us at Giving the Basics.
